PadHer Named Among World's Top 100 Education Innovations for 3rd Time
Nigeria's PadHer Makes Top 100 Global Education Innovations

In a significant achievement for Nigerian-led social impact, the menstrual health education initiative PadHer has been selected as one of the world's 100 most impactful education innovations. This prestigious recognition comes from the international non-profit organisation, HundrED.

A Third Consecutive Honour for Nigerian Innovation

This marks the third year in a row that PadHer has earned a spot on the HundrED list. It solidifies the project's status as a consistently recognised global leader and, notably, as the only Nigerian innovation to be featured. The announcement was made on 7 December 2025.

Founded by social entrepreneur Chika Nwaogu, PadHer tackles the sensitive topics of menstrual health, puberty, and sexual and reproductive rights through engaging, relatable mediums. The initiative's core methodology involves using comic books, animations, and digital games to deliver its messages in a stigma-free and accessible manner.

Reacting to the accolade, Nwaogu stated that the honour serves as a powerful testament to the potential of African solutions. "This honour is a powerful reminder that African innovations can lead global change," he said. "Every girl we reach is a girl who doesn’t have to skip school or question her worth because of her period."

Grassroots Expansion and Funding Success in Ghana

The initiative's success is deeply rooted in strategic partnerships. Thelma Teetee Ahamba, Director of Operations and Partnerships at PadHer, highlighted the critical role of local collaboration. "Our impact in Ghana is possible because we work hand-in-hand with trusted grassroots organisations," Ahamba explained.

This collaborative approach is currently driving a major expansion in Ghana. PadHer recently secured $140,000 in funding to bring menstrual health education, reusable sanitary products, and its comic-based learning curriculum to 3,500 schoolgirls.

The rollout is happening in two phases:

  • Phase One: Already completed, reaching 1,750 girls in the Volta Region through workshops delivered with partners Girls Club Ghana and EJY Foundation.
  • Phase Two: Scheduled for January 2026, this phase will extend to the Ahafo and Eastern Regions, targeting the remaining 1,750 girls. PadHer will continue working with Girls Club Ghana and will announce a new partner in the Ahafo region.

This expansion specifically aligns with the funder's goal of supporting cocoa-growing communities, where access to menstrual health education is often limited and stigma persists.

Proven Impact and Global Evidence Alignment

Beyond the HundrED recognition, PadHer's evidence-based approach has earned it a place on the EduEvidence Global EdTech Evidence List. This positions it among the world's most rigorously supported education solutions.

The initiative's tangible impact is undeniable. To date, PadHer has empowered more than 100,000 girls across Africa. By providing vital knowledge and practical tools, the program helps young women manage their periods with dignity and, crucially, enables them to continue their education without interruption.
