UI Student Signs Out After 7 Years, Shares Story

A young man named Ibukun Olaniyi has celebrated the completion of his studies at the University of Ibadan, signing out with his peers after seven years. He gained admission in 2019 but faced multiple delays, including the COVID-19 pandemic and ASUU strikes.

Journey to Graduation

Ibukun shared his experience on TikTok under the handle @fairlyusedboyfriend002. He explained that after gaining admission in 2019, he could not resume as planned in 2020 due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which led to the cancellation of the session and pushed his admission to 2021. Following matriculation, an ASUU strike shut down academic activities for about eight months.

Despite these interruptions, Ibukun remained resilient. He stated, "At different points, it felt like the journey kept getting interrupted, but somehow everything still moved forward. The journey was delayed many times, but never destroyed."
