Ronik Polytechnic Intensifies Industry Collaborations to Enhance Academic Impact
Ronik Polytechnic, located in Ejigbo, Lagos, is ramping up initiatives to cultivate a robust culture of innovation and forge stronger alliances with industry stakeholders. This strategic move aims to ensure that its academic programs stay relevant and deliver significant impact within the swiftly evolving global workforce landscape.
The acting Rector, Dr Abiodun Olafenwa, revealed these plans during the institution's recent matriculation ceremony. He emphasized that the polytechnic is committed to providing students with not just theoretical knowledge but also practical skills, preparing them to emerge as future job creators rather than mere job seekers.
Shifting Paradigms in Higher Education
Olafenwa highlighted that, on a global scale, higher education institutions are undergoing a transformation. They are no longer confined to traditional classroom teaching but are evolving into dynamic innovation ecosystems. In these environments, knowledge seamlessly integrates with industry needs, research drives tangible economic solutions, and graduates are empowered to innovate and establish their own ventures.
This approach underscores the polytechnic's dedication to bridging the gap between academia and the real-world demands of the job market, fostering an environment where students can thrive as entrepreneurs and leaders.
Encouragement from Leadership
During the ceremony, the visitor to the polytechnic, Chris Alabi, represented by Adeola Olubanjo, the Vice Chairman of the Governing Council, urged the matriculating students to take their studies seriously. He advised them to strive for excellence and aim to rank among the best in the country upon graduation.
"You must value your time, extend your learning beyond the classroom, uphold integrity, and steer clear of distractions to achieve academic excellence," he stated. Additionally, he appealed to the students to embrace wisdom in all their endeavors, noting that it is a critical component for success in life's various pursuits.
This guidance aligns with the institution's broader mission to develop well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also ethically grounded and prepared for the challenges of the modern workforce.
