Indomie Competition Unleashes Creativity in 64,000 Kids

The creative spirit of Nigerian youth was on full display as the Indomie Fan Club successfully concluded the 10th season of its annual 'Team Yourself Up' competition. This year's event, themed 'Create the Future', saw an unprecedented level of participation and ingenuity from young minds across the nation.

From Noodles to Masterpieces

More than 64,000 schoolchildren from various regions of Nigeria transformed ordinary Indomie packaging materials into extraordinary works of art. Using packs, cartons, wrappers, and seasoning sachets that would typically be discarded, these young creators demonstrated that innovation knows no bounds.

The diversity of projects was remarkable, ranging from functional solar-powered huts and intricate mosaic paintings to impressive ships, beautiful bouquets, and futuristic robots. Each creation told a story of imagination, patience, and environmental consciousness through the creative reuse of materials.

Meet the Young Innovators

The competition's star performer was Feyisitan Ewaoluwa from Living Faith School in Lagos, who captivated judges and attendees with her life-sized 'Indobot'. This innovative robot, designed to cook Indomie noodles faster and with enhanced flavor, earned her the coveted grand prize of ₦500,000.

Following her achievement, Nwosu Uriel Raymond from School, East secured the first runner-up position with a prize of ₦200,000. The second runner-up honor went to Kelechi Robert from D'Glorious School, who received ₦100,000 for her stunning mosaic painting crafted entirely from Indomie packs.

Regional Champions and Consolation Prizes

The competition also recognized outstanding talent from different geographical regions. Several students received regional awards of ₦35,000 each plus Indomie products for their exceptional creations:

  • Maxwell Njoku from the Eastern region for his Indomie carton tractor
  • Olivia Esiri from Lagos with her solar chalet huts
  • Jemima from Ogun State
  • An Abuja student who created a basket from perforated cartons

Additional participants received management consolation prizes of ₦10,000 alongside packs of Indomie noodles, ensuring that effort and participation were duly recognized.

Celebrating Creativity and Community

The event atmosphere was electric with excitement, featuring dance-offs between teachers and students, delicious servings of Indomie and eggs, and various engaging games. This combination of competition and celebration created a memorable experience for all participants.

Mr. Mudasiru Fuhaad Ayoola, Deputy Director of Culture at the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, expressed his admiration for the initiative. "Indomie is doing really well, and I'm impressed with the Fan Club. It's like a family that keeps getting bigger and better," he remarked.

Mrs. Faith Ogechi Joshua, National Coordinator of the Indomie Fan Club, highlighted the competition's broader impact. "This competition brings out creativity, supports recycling, and strengthens team bonding among students, families, and friends," she explained.

The 10th season of the Team Yourself Up competition has once again demonstrated that with imagination and simple materials, Nigerian children can create extraordinary visions of the future while learning valuable lessons about sustainability and innovation.
