Loye Exits MasterChef Nigeria After Jollof Challenge

Loye Eliminated from MasterChef Nigeria Following Jollof Rice Challenge

The competition on MasterChef Nigeria reached another dramatic milestone as contestant Loye became the latest cook to leave the kitchen after a high-pressure Jollof Rice Feast challenge. The Top 6 contestants faced Black Apron Day, where they were tasked with creating a feast inspired by two regions of Nigeria, with jollof rice serving as the centerpiece of the dish.

Judges assessed entries based on flavour, regional identity, execution, and how effectively the iconic Nigerian dish was showcased. Loye struggled to impress with his presentation, admitting dissatisfaction with the final result. The judges agreed, noting that while the dish showed potential, it failed to make jollof rice the hero of the plate as required by the brief.

Judge Chef Stone praised Loye’s potential, saying he possessed qualities that could make him a future MasterChef, while Chef Eros encouraged him to cook with greater emotion and confidence. However, the judges concluded that his dish was not strong enough to keep him in the competition.

Joining Loye in the bottom three were Isabella and David. Isabella’s attempt at redemption after last week’s disappointing cake challenge fell short, with judges citing an overload of competing flavours. David also landed in danger after failing to complete his dish before the deadline.

The standout performer of the day was Favy, who delivered the judges’ favourite dish despite already holding the immunity pin. Her impressive plate earned her a one-year supply of Sonia products and an exclusive dining experience at Ile Eros for her family.

With Loye’s exit, the competition moves closer to the finale, leaving the remaining contestants under increasing pressure as they battle for the MasterChef Nigeria title. Produced by Primedia Group, MasterChef Nigeria airs every Sunday at 7 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase and Africa Magic Family, with repeat broadcasts on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
