Rivers Chief Pilot Stanley Pepple Honoured with Global Peace Ambassador Award
Stanley Pepple Receives Global Ambassador of Peace Award

Dr. Stanley Pepple, the Chief Pilot of the Rivers State Government Aviation Department, has been honoured with a prestigious international award for his commitment to promoting peace and human rights.

A Distinguished Career in Aviation and Advocacy

An accomplished aviation executive and scholar, Captain Stanley Pepple manages operational safety, crew development, and strategic management for the state's aviation wing. His expertise extends beyond the cockpit into the realms of policy and advocacy.

Pepple is also a recognised contributor to peace and development dialogues, engaging with the United Nations ECOSOC community. He regularly provides insightful commentary on issues of fairness, sustainable development, and the protection of human dignity.

Why Pepple Was Chosen for the Honour

The Global Forum for Peace presented him with the Ambassador of Peace, Justice, and Human Rights Award on 20 December 2025. The organisers stated he was selected for leveraging his platform to champion integrity, accountability, and respect for human rights.

They highlighted that his leadership fosters environments where transparency is the norm and individuals feel valued. “What has always set him apart is his refusal to bend on principles. He has shown that leadership is first about character, then influence,” the award organisers explained.

A Humble Acceptance and a Dedication to Leadership

Upon receiving the award, Pepple described it as a profound honour and a humbling reminder of the weight of service. He affirmed that the recognition would fuel his continued efforts to support peace, justice, and respect for all people.

He emphasised that the award was not merely a personal achievement. In a significant gesture, Pepple dedicated the accolade to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom he praised as an exemplar of calm leadership, mutual respect, and constructive engagement.

“The governor has shown me the true meaning of peace and responsible service. This recognition is a reflection of the lessons I’ve learned under his influence,” Pepple stated.

Investing in the Future: Youth Development Through Aviation

Parallel to his peace advocacy, Pepple has been instrumental in a key youth development initiative. He helped steer the Rivers State government’s aviation scholarship programme administered by the Eastwing Youth Foundation.

This project, aligned with Governor Fubara's vision, provides Rivers youths with specialised training opportunities in AW139 helicopter engineering. The goal is to build vital local capacity in a high-demand technical field.

The selection process is transparent and merit-based, with announcements made publicly. To date, ten young indigenes have successfully completed their training under this scheme. Pepple has frequently described the programme as a strategic investment in the state's economic growth, global relevance, and the future of its youth.
