Adaeze Yobo Opens Up About C-Section Shame and Postpartum Depression

Adaeze Yobo, a former winner of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) pageant, has shared personal revelations about her childbirth experiences and mental health struggles. The beauty queen, married to former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo, took to social media to reflect on her journey after stumbling upon old photos in her media folder.

She recalled winning the MBGN title at a very young age, noting that she believes she was the youngest ever to wear the crown. At the time, she was still a teenager and went by her maiden name, Adaeze Igwe.

On motherhood, Adaeze, who has three children, admitted that after the birth of her first child, she was too embarrassed to reveal she had a C-section. Instead, she lied and claimed she gave birth naturally. In her post, she confessed that all three of her children were delivered via C-section.

She also opened up about her battle with postpartum depression, revealing that she initially thought she was "mentally sick" or even "possessed." It was only later that she realized she was suffering from postpartum depression, a condition that affects many new mothers.

Her candid revelations have sparked conversations about the stigma surrounding C-sections and mental health issues in Nigeria.
