Former child star Amanda Bynes has taken a firm stand against disturbing false allegations circulating on social media, calling out a viral TikTok video that spread malicious lies about her relationship with former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider.
Fake TikTok Sparks Outrage
The 39-year-old actress directly addressed TMZ to clarify that the viral TikTok video was completely fabricated and filled with damaging falsehoods. Bynes emphasized she had absolutely nothing to do with the disturbing clip that has been circulating online.
The problematic video originated from a fan account using the name amandabynesupdates, which has since been deleted. The account manipulated content by taking a recent selfie video of Bynes and editing it with misleading text that suggested she had been pregnant as a minor.
Manipulated Content Exposed
Bynes explained how the video editor spliced together her Instagram Story with completely unrelated footage from her old Nickelodeon show to create a false narrative. The edited clip included a resurfaced scene from The Amanda Show featuring Bynes and Schneider in a hot tub during a comedy sketch titled Amanda's Jacuzzi, which originally aired between 1999 and 2002.
"The TikTok was manipulated," Bynes stated, making it clear that the account spreading these claims was not hers and that the allegations were created purely "for clickbait" purposes.
Legal Context and Background
The resurfaced clip emerges amid Schneider's ongoing legal battle with the producers of Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, the controversial 2024 documentary that examined working conditions during his tenure at Nickelodeon.
Schneider has sued the filmmakers for defamation, arguing that the docuseries painted misleading and damaging implications about his behavior during his years at the children's network. A Los Angeles judge has allowed Schneider's defamation suit to proceed, stating that a "reasonable viewer" could interpret the documentary as making serious accusations against him.
Representatives for Dan Schneider declined to comment when contacted about the viral TikTok allegations.
The producer, who worked on major Nickelodeon hits including All That, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, Victorious, iCarly, and The Amanda Show, has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. His legal team maintains he was not aware of misconduct by others and condemned it when it came to light.
While the documentary highlighted criminal cases involving two former Nickelodeon employees, Schneider's lawyers insist he had no involvement in their actions.
Bynes wants her fans and the public to understand that the viral TikTok is 100% fake and that she played no part in creating or supporting the false claims made in the video.
