Nigerian singer B-Red has explained why his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and other members of their wealthy family entered politics, insisting that financial gain is not their motivation.
B-Red Says Adeleke Family Doesn't Need Politics for Money
During an old interview on the Echo Room podcast, B-Red stated that his family had accumulated wealth long before some members ventured into politics. He said the Adeleke family's involvement in politics is driven by a desire to help people, not to make money.
"We don't need politics for money; we have been rich for a long time. My family is only in politics to help," B-Red said.
Family's Political Legacy and Presidential Hopes
The Adeleke family has a strong presence in Osun State politics, having produced two governors and senators, including the late Isiaka Adeleke and the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke. B-Red also expressed confidence that if his father became Nigeria's president, the country would improve significantly.
"If my dad, Governor Ademola Adeleke, becomes the President of Nigeria, things will improve drastically," he said.
B-Red's Mixed Feelings About His Father's Presidential Ambition
Despite his confidence in his father's ability, B-Red admitted he has mixed feelings about such a possibility. He said he would rather his father avoid the presidency because of the enormous pressure that comes with the office.
"But I don't want my dad to be President because the pressure will be too much," he added.
