BBNaija Queen Mercy's Home POP Ceiling Collapses

Former BBNaija reality star Queen Mercy Atang has narrated a frightening experience that occurred in her home, where the Plaster of Paris (POP) ceiling in her sitting room suddenly collapsed.

A Narrow Escape from Disaster

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning. According to Queen Mercy's detailed account on her Instagram, she had returned home around 4 a.m. after an all-night video shoot. This shoot was part of a project for a friend's Guinness World Record attempt.

Exhausted from the night's work, the reality star went to rest. However, her younger sister and her nanny stayed awake in the sitting room, busy with sewing work. Queen Mercy revealed that it was their usual habit to sleep in that same room after finishing their sewing sessions.

Divine Intervention and a Sudden Collapse

In what she described as a clear act of divine intervention, her sister and nanny did not lie down to sleep in the sitting room this particular time. They remained awake. It was then, as morning approached, that the entire POP ceiling in the room gave way without warning.

The sudden collapse forced the two women to run for their lives to avoid being hit by the falling debris. Queen Mercy stated that her heart sank when she was informed about the accident. Her immediate fear was for the safety of her loved ones.

"I felt immediate relief after confirming that my sister and nanny were safe upstairs," she shared, expressing gratitude that no one was hurt.

This Was Not the First Incident

In a concerning revelation, Queen Mercy disclosed that this was the second such incident to occur in her home within a matter of weeks. She mentioned that a similar POP collapse had previously happened in her garage, highlighting a potential recurring safety issue.

The star used her platform to share the story, likely to raise awareness about home safety and the importance of proper building maintenance. The post was subsequently shared by popular blogger Linda Ikeji on her official Instagram page @lindaikejiblogofficial on December 17, 2025, at 9:21 PM.

This scary event serves as a stark reminder for homeowners to regularly inspect their properties, especially decorative fixtures like POP ceilings, to prevent such dangerous accidents.
