Brymo Alleges Davido, Burna Boy, 2face Idibia Lured Him Into Cult Initiation

Nigerian singer Brymo has publicly accused three of the country's biggest music stars—Davido, Burna Boy, and 2face Idibia—of being linked to an alleged cult initiation attempt he says he experienced in 2019. Speaking on the Lahor Talk Podcast in Lagos, Brymo stated that he was lured into a gathering where he was pressured to join a cult, and the names of all three artistes were reportedly mentioned during the incident.

Brymo Demands Public Denial, Not Apology

Brymo made clear that he is not seeking an apology or forgiveness from the three artistes. Instead, he demands a simple public statement from each of them distancing themselves from the alleged event. "I no dey ask for forgiveness from Burna Boy or Davido or 2face. I want make them tell me say true true, dem no wetin happen to me for Chevron or not. When I was lured into being hosted, only to be told that I need to join cult and they mention una three name," he said on the podcast.

The singer explained that he had kept the story to himself for seven years but decided to speak openly after appearing on the podcast, which he only agreed to because it was broadcast live. He vowed that the silence is over for good. According to Brymo, until those he named make a public statement denying any involvement, he intends to continue making the allegation on every available platform, including tweets, Instagram comments, stories, reels, and television appearances.

Brymo's Seven-Year Silence Ends With Public Allegations

Brymo stated that he stayed quiet about the alleged incident for years but has since chosen to speak out. "As long as you don't say that you did it, I'm not whispering it. I'm tweeting it. I'm commenting it on Instagram," he said. He also addressed a lyric he attributed to one of the artistes, which he described as a reference to him and his career trajectory. Brymo said the line deeply unsettled him, particularly given his standing as a musician. "Upon all of my music, all of my history, my proficient at history, I'm a maestro, you know?" he said, expressing frustration at being reduced to a punchline.

The singer's allegations come amid a history of public feuds. Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Brymo accused Burna Boy of purchasing his Grammy Award, claiming he was once asked to pay $10,000 for a BET Awards nomination. Speaking on the NotJustOk podcast, Brymo dismissed Burna Boy's 2023 freestyle diss, insisting he would never mention the Grammy winner in his songs and questioning his performance and songwriting abilities. The feud, which began in 2023 when Brymo labelled Burna Boy unoriginal, has reignited with Brymo's latest remarks challenging the credibility of Burna Boy's achievements.

Impact and Next Steps

Brymo has made it clear that he will continue to speak publicly about the alleged incident until the three artistes—Davido, Burna Boy, and 2face Idibia—issue a public statement denying any involvement. He has not provided additional evidence beyond his own account. The allegations have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with fans and critics awaiting responses from the named artistes. As of the time of reporting, none of the three has publicly addressed Brymo's claims.
