David Beckham has become the United Kingdom's first billionaire sportsman, according to the Sunday Times Rich List. The former England captain and his wife, Lady Victoria Beckham, have seen their combined wealth more than double over the past year, reaching an estimated £1.185 billion. This marks a significant jump from the £500 million net worth attributed to them in the 2025 edition of the list.
Wealth Ranking and Sources
The couple now occupies the second spot on the Sunday Times list of wealthiest sportspeople, trailing only the family of former Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone, whose fortune is estimated at £2 billion. Beckham's wealth is largely derived from his co-ownership of Inter Miami, a Major League Soccer club valued at approximately $1.45 billion (£1.07 billion), making it the league's most valuable team. Additionally, he has earned substantial sums through brand ambassador roles with global companies such as Adidas and Hugo Boss.
Victoria Beckham's wealth primarily stems from her eponymous fashion label, which she founded after achieving fame as a member of the Spice Girls. Her business ventures have contributed significantly to the couple's combined fortune.
Other Notable Figures on the List
Joining Beckham among the richest sportspeople are promoters Barry and Eddie Hearn, whose combined wealth is estimated at £1.035 billion. Barry Hearn is the founder and president of Matchroom Sport, a leading promoter in boxing, darts, and snooker. His son Eddie serves as chairman of Matchroom and is widely recognized as the public face of its boxing division. Eddie Hearn is also the promoter of British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, who ranks eighth on the list with a fortune of £240 million. Joshua's wealth places him above fellow heavyweight Tyson Fury, who is ninth with £162 million. Hearn recently announced that Joshua has signed a deal to fight Fury, though no date or venue has been confirmed.
Seven-time Formula One world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton is fifth on the list with £435 million, while back-to-back Masters golf champion Rory McIlroy is seventh with £325 million. England football captain Harry Kane and two-time Wimbledon tennis champion Sir Andy Murray are tied for tenth place, each with a fortune of £110 million.
