Afro Nation Portugal has confirmed Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa as headliners for its seventh edition, set to take place from June 9 to 11, 2027, at Praia da Rocha in Portimão. The festival, which has become a global showcase for Afrobeats and Amapiano, will also feature Omah Lay, Victony, Shenseea, Valiant, and Rayvanny among the first wave of about 30 confirmed acts.
Three Giants of African Music Return
The organisers described Davido, Rema, and Fally Ipupa as "three giants of African music," all returning to the festival. Congolese star GIMS joins as a special guest, adding to the international appeal of the lineup. The main Lit stage will host the headliners alongside the other confirmed artists, with more names expected to be announced in the coming months.
This year's edition marks a continuation of the festival's tradition of featuring Nigerian superstars prominently. Since its launch in 2019, Afro Nation Portugal has seen headliners like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Megan Thee Stallion, 50 Cent, Chris Brown, and Nicki Minaj. The festival has been credited with helping to push Afrobeats and Amapiano onto global stages, drawing tens of thousands of fans from around the world each summer.
A Festival of Recurring Stars
Rema, who headlined the 2024 edition alongside Asake, J Hus, and Tyla, returns to the festival, riding the global success of his hit 'Calm Down.' Davido also returns to a festival he has headlined before, while Fally Ipupa comes back after main-stage appearances in recent years, including in 2024. The sixth edition, which wrapped in July, featured Wizkid and Asake leading the lineup, with Burna Boy launching his album 'No Sign of Weakness' from the beach stage. Uncle Waffles headlined the Piano People stage, with Gunna and Kehlani as special guests.
The festival has expanded beyond Portugal to Ghana, Puerto Rico, Miami, and Detroit, but the Portugal edition remains its flagship event. The 2027 edition is scheduled to run about a month earlier than in recent years, a change from the usual timing.
