Do2dtun Condemns Fake Social Media Post Targeting Adekunle Gold and Simi's Daughter
Popular Nigerian hypeman and media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, widely known as Do2dtun, has issued a strong rebuke against a disturbing and false social media post that surfaced online on Sunday, 8 March 2026. The post, shared on X by a user identified as @boutmoneey12, maliciously claimed that Deja, the six-year-old daughter of renowned singers Adekunle Gold and Simi, had tragically died from Canavan disease, a rare genetic disorder.
Do2dtun Slams the Act as Pure Greed for X Ad Revenue
In his response, Do2dtun did not mince words, describing the fabricated post as nothing but a desperate attempt to chase engagement and earn money from X's ad revenue system, which was introduced under the ownership of Elon Musk. He expressed profound shock and outrage that anyone could boldly spread such a falsehood about an innocent child, emphasizing the unethical nature of the act.
"All for Elon money right! No be all engagement Dey bring peace. This one go choke you. What sort of nonsense is this. How is this even possible that, you had the audacity to even do this. All for engagement?" Do2dtun stated, warning that the poster would face severe consequences for their actions.
Community Notes Flag Post as Misinformation
The false claim was quickly identified and flagged as misinformation through community notes on X, with users pointing out that no credible news outlets had reported such a tragedy. Additionally, Adekunle Gold's verified social media accounts continue to show recent posts featuring happy family moments, further debunking the hoax.
Angry Nigerians Demand Arrest and Punishment
The fake death post sparked widespread condemnation from Nigerians online, with many expressing disbelief and anger. Netizens called for the arrest and punishment of the user, noting that the post remained undeleted despite public outcry, which they viewed as a blatant disregard for decency and truth.
- @sepril23NG commented: "There is nothing some people won't do for attention. He already got what he wanted. The likes and quotes."
- @FRIZDADETAILS said: "Bro still not deleting? Has to be a bandit cause there's no way he still hasn't deleted."
- @Sylphfabrics wrote: "I just wish he can be arrested and curse anyone who defends him here... X space is not real just full of hypocrites."
- @LawalfarukAyom1 reacted: "Abeg make sure Adekunle Gold give him the attention he is looking for.. he has been doing this since."
- @Yomad_e stated: "To think he still has the tweet up there despite public outcry. He feels he will get away with it, there are precedents. Mad people like this will continue to roam freely until there's a deterrent."
- @falolaopeyemi3 added: "He really needs to be taught some lessons, this is absolutely unacceptable."
Do2dtun's Previous Defense Against Online Bullying
This incident follows a previous instance where Do2dtun spoke out strongly against the online bullying of Adekunle Gold. Earlier, when old tweets from Simi resurfaced and sparked negative reactions on social media, the radio host urged fans to stop dragging the singer and instead recognize his significant achievements in Nigerian music, highlighting his classic albums and memorable performances at the National Theatre.
The ongoing issue underscores the darker side of social media, where false information can spread rapidly for financial gain, causing emotional distress to public figures and their families. As the call for accountability grows, this case serves as a stark reminder of the need for stricter measures against misinformation online.
