American rapper J. Cole has canceled his Sacramento concert after a member of his touring crew was killed in a trucking accident on Thursday morning, August 27. The show was scheduled to take place at the Golden 1 Center that evening.
Fatal Crash on Interstate 5
The accident occurred on southbound Interstate 5 near Woodland, California, when the big rig hauling equipment for Cole's show overturned. The crash happened shortly after 6:05 a.m. in Yolo County, northwest of Woodland, according to KCRA. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) confirmed the driver was the truck's only occupant.
Authorities reported that the truck drifted onto the right shoulder, then overturned when the driver attempted to steer it back onto the freeway. The driver was extricated from the wreckage, and a helicopter was called to the scene. CHP later confirmed the person died.

In a statement, Cole's team said: "Following the tragic passing of a member of the touring crew in a trucking accident this morning," the scheduled performance at Golden 1 Center on August 27 has been called off. The team added: "Our thoughts are with the crew member’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."
The Golden 1 Center also confirmed the person killed was a member of J. Cole's touring crew and that Thursday night's Sacramento show was canceled. In a statement, the venue said: "Our thoughts are with the crew member's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."
Crash Location and Aftermath
The wreck happened on southbound I-5 between the Zamora and Dufour areas, with the overturned semi blocking all lanes just south of County Road 95. The truck was hauling equipment for Cole's show ahead of the performance at the Golden 1 Center.
Ticketmaster buyers will receive automatic refunds for the canceled show. Those who purchased tickets through other outlets must seek refunds from their original point of purchase.
