Man fired for calling cops on dad in women's restroom

A Mississippi man who went viral for calling the police on a father helping his young daughters in a women's restroom has lost his job as a real estate agent. Overstreet Properties in Starkville confirmed that the man, an independent contractor and licensed realtor, was on a personal trip when the incident occurred. The company stated that his actions did not align with their values, leading to the termination of his association.

Incident at Alabama QuikTrip

The confrontation took place last weekend at a QuikTrip gas station in Alabama. Tyler Brodsky, an Oklahoma father, had taken his two young daughters into an empty women's restroom while traveling home from Florida. He explained that he chose the women's room because the men's room was dirty. However, a male customer confronted Brodsky and called the police, arguing that a man had no business in the women's restroom.

Viral TikTok Video

Brodsky posted the encounter on TikTok, where it quickly went viral. The video shows the angry customer berating Brodsky after his wife and ill mother-in-law reported a man in the women's restroom. The customer can be heard telling police, "There is a man with two little girls using the women's bathroom. He's washing his hands with his daughters right now." The confrontation upset Brodsky's daughters, who were heard crying. A female QuikTrip employee eventually intervened, shutting the restroom door on the customer and apologizing to the family.

Company Response

Overstreet Properties released a statement on social media saying, "Overstreet Properties is aware of videos circulating on social media depicting conduct by a former independent contractor during a personal trip that was unrelated to the company. The conduct depicted in the video does not reflect the values of Overstreet Properties or the standards we expect of those who represent our organization. The individual depicted in the video is no longer associated with Overstreet Properties."

Police Determination

In a follow-up video, Brodsky said three police officers responded to the gas station and quickly determined he had done nothing wrong. "The officers let me know I was OK, I didn't do anything wrong," he said. Officers ultimately asked the other man to leave the store. Brodsky praised the responding officers and QuikTrip employees for how they treated his daughters after the ordeal. "Hopefully it'll bring attention to people that feel the need to berate a mom or dad trying to take care of their kids," he said.
