Videos from a major gathering of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Kwara State have sparked widespread discussion online. The focal point was a direct address from the union's national president, Alhaji Musliu Ayinde Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo.
Oluomo's Dual-Language Address to Union Members
The event was the NURTW Zone 4 Zonal Delegates Conference, held in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday, January 10, 2026. Footage circulating on social media showed MC Oluomo arriving with his entourage before taking the stage to speak to delegates.
In one clip, the union leader addressed members in English, reading from a document that outlined the conference's agenda, which included electing officers to manage the zone's affairs. In another segment, he switched to Yoruba to rally members and issue a stern warning.
"If some hide in secret places and say this union wouldn't grow, they are deceiving themselves," MC Oluomo declared in Yoruba, sending a clear message to those he perceives as working against the union's progress under his leadership.
The Backdrop: Koko Zaria's Explosive Allegations
MC Oluomo's strong words follow serious public accusations from a former close associate. Koko Zaria, once an ally, recently made bold claims against the NURTW president in a viral video.
In the emotional video, Koko Zaria accused MC Oluomo of being romantically involved with his wife and girlfriends. He described what he called years of hurt, betrayal, and silence, adding a deeply personal layer to the internal union dynamics.
Social Media Buzz and Mixed Reactions
The video of MC Oluomo's speech quickly drew diverse comments from Nigerians online. Some users focused on his delivery, while others commented on the substance of his message and the ongoing leadership tussles within the NURTW.
Sodiq Kushimo humorously questioned, "Wetin baba want to read from the book." Meanwhile, Lukmon Olayinka suggested, "Pls somebody should collect it from him and read it."
Other comments were more supportive. Habeeb Solanke drew a parallel with Fuji musicians who improved their public speaking, writing, "likewise you MC delayed is not late but it’s a matter of time and thanks for this rapid improvement."
The incident also reignited debates about union leadership. Adekola Waheed commented, "President Tajudeen lbikunle Baruwa is the authentic president of NURTW," highlighting the factional disputes that have plagued the transport union.
This is not the first public display of factional rivalry. Legit.ng previously reported on drama at a Lagos party where a faction loyal to Mustapha Sego reacted negatively when Fuji star KWAM 1 publicly recognized MC Oluomo as the NURTW head.
The events in Ilorin underscore the ongoing tensions within one of Nigeria's most influential unions, where personal allegations, leadership battles, and public perception continue to collide.
