Mother Accuses Ex-In-Laws of Taking Her Child, Denying Access

Ezenagu Becky has taken to Facebook to accuse her former in-laws of taking custody of her special needs child and refusing to allow her any contact with the girl for more than three years. According to her account, the child turned five years old on the day of her post, and she has been unable to see, hold, or speak to her daughter since she was one year old.

Marriage Breakdown and Alleged Conspiracy

Becky narrated that her marriage to a man from Ondo State initially went well, but her in-laws allegedly began telling her husband that she was bad luck. She claims these narratives led to the collapse of the marriage after two years. Following the separation, her husband's family allegedly tricked her into releasing her one-year-old child, who has special needs, to them. She says she did not know their plan was to take the child away permanently.

Heartbreaking Plea for Help

In her Facebook post, Becky wrote: 'So today my child marks 5 years and I’m not able to sing to her, to hold her and to give her presents. There’s nothing as heartbreaking as a mother who has a child somewhere that she can’t see, talk to or reach.' She expressed disbelief that another woman, also a mother, could 'steal another woman’s joy.' She described her efforts to reunite with her child as 'abortive' and said she has exhausted all options.

Becky also revealed that she contacted her ex-father-in-law, whom she identified as a pastor, begging him to at least send a picture or video of her child since he refused to give her their address. She stated that he bluntly refused. 'A child I nearly lost my life trying to bring into this world, how can I be stripped of my rights over my own child simply because marriage crashed?' she asked.

Call for Public Assistance

Becky appealed to the public for help, writing: 'I hope this post gets to the right people who can help me fight to see my child.' She also addressed her child directly: 'Happy 5th birthday Adiella Boluwatife Chidera Joshua my child, even though you can’t see or feel me know that I adore you, I feel you and I’m praying for you my dear child.' She added that her ex-in-laws are somewhere in Jos and provided the phone number of her ex-father-in-law, whom she named as Pastor Shola Joshua, alleging he has refused to let her see her child.
