Leaked WhatsApp messages between Nigerian gospel singer Neon Adejo and a model have surfaced online, dragging the musician into a messy domestic dispute between photographer David Martins and his wife Alicia. The chats, which went public on August 24, 2026, have sparked significant reactions across social media platforms.
Leaked Chats Expose Alleged Inappropriate Communication
The controversy began when David Martins, a photographer, made cheating allegations against his wife Alicia, presenting the leaked WhatsApp conversation as evidence of her inappropriate communication with Neon Adejo. In the messages, Adejo allegedly encouraged Alicia to send him a selfie, reassuring her that his wife would not see their conversation.
Alicia wrote: "I don't want your wife to be like, why is she sending a selfie." Neon replied: "Stop it, she won't even see my chats. Send me a selfie, I want to see you?. Let's give this to bloggers, what do you think? I just sent you #150,000, I don't know what that would do for you. Something to add to what you have."
Neon Adejo Responds to Allegations
Adejo, however, offered an explanation for his behaviour. In a separate message, he wrote: "The only reason I ever asked for a selfie was because, I had reached out to my friend's company, whom I paid for to make your wife's hair. I simply wanted to see how she looked afterwards. She was looking like who had been through a lot, and I reached out to my friend because I wanted to make sure she looked and felt like herself again."
The gospel singer's explanation did little to quell the online uproar, as many users weighed in on the appropriateness of the exchange, particularly the transfer of #150,000 and the request for a selfie.
David Martins Fires Back at Abuse Claims
David Martins took to his Instagram story to deny being an abuser, flipping the narrative by accusing his wife Alicia of being the one who was abusive. He shared what he described as supporting evidence, including information about Alicia's disclosed anxiety and depression diagnosis from the early stages of their relationship, which he said she did not complete treatment for.
Beyond the abuse back-and-forth, Martins accused Alicia of infidelity, pointing to the leaked messages with Neon Adejo as proof of inappropriate behaviour. He also claimed she had been in active contact with a former partner named Yemi. In a particularly pointed accusation, Martins alleged that Adejo encouraged Alicia to go public with her story through blogs, shared his photograph on a group chat, and incited people to assault him. He also called out relationship commentator SolomonBuchi, claiming he is connected to Adejo.
Alicia Responds, Demands Justice
Alicia has since responded to her husband's lengthy public statement. Rather than address each allegation point by point, she made clear that her primary concern is seeking justice for herself and her child. She added pointedly that if the events in question had occurred in the United States, David would currently be behind bars.
The leaked WhatsApp messages have been widely circulated online, with many reacting to the drama. The situation remains fluid, with all parties involved making public statements. The impact of this controversy on Neon Adejo's career and the Martins' marriage remains to be seen, but the online discourse shows no signs of slowing down.
