A Nigerian lady named Blissful has moved many to tears after sharing the emotional story of how she donated her kidney to her mother, who was battling organ failure for the second time. The story, shared on TikTok under the handle @heyblissful_, highlights the daughter's selfless act and the challenges her mother faced with misdiagnosis and poor medical equipment.
Mother's Health Struggles
Blissful revealed that her mother had undergone her first kidney transplant 17 years ago. In October 2024, the mother was misdiagnosed with end-stage renal failure and was forced to begin dialysis again. The lady narrated how her mother's physical appearance changed drastically over four months due to the illness.
“When she wasn’t getting better, she was moved from Owerri to Abuja, and that was when we found out that the hospital that misdiagnosed her was using a very bad dialysis machine,” Blissful said.
Decision to Donate Kidney
When it became clear that a transplant was the only option, Blissful decided to donate her kidney. She described the act as a small price to pay for her mother’s life. “When the only option was transplant, I decided to do it. I was privileged to do it. This was a very small price to pay for my mum’s life. Even when my mum was very sick, she was also giving me money. That was how much my mum was a present mum,” she shared.
