A 54-year-old American woman who claims to be married to a 36-year-old Nigerian man sparked laughter and disbelief on a US relationship podcast when she lamented about a lack of love from her husband, whom she sends money to every month. The woman, who appeared on a podcast that allows listeners to seek advice on relationship issues, asked the panel, “At what point does fighting for a relationship become settling for less than what you deserve?”
Podcast Panelists React to Long-Distance Marriage
One of the anchors asked whether the subject was a husband or boyfriend, to which she replied, “Husband. I am married. I am in a long-distance relationship.” When pressed on the distance, she said, “He is in Nigeria. I am 54, he is 36.” The mention of Nigeria immediately drew laughter from the anchors and audience.
An anchor then asked, “You haven’t been sending any money, have you?” The woman admitted, “I send money every month.” Another anchor exclaimed, “You have been scammed!” as the audience erupted in laughter.
Woman Defends Relationship with Bible Verse
Explaining why she stays despite not receiving the love she feels she deserves, the woman quoted a Bible verse: “She does him good all the days of her life.” She added, “I know if I leave, he is going to become nothing.” The video has gone viral, with some Nigerians laughing and others criticizing Nigerian men involved in romance scams that tarnish the country’s image.
