Popular activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Verydarkman, has strongly criticized Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike following a viral video showing the minister confronting Naval officer Ahmad Yerima while on duty.
VDM's Strong Reaction to Wike's Behavior
In a video that circulated widely across social media platforms, the FCT Minister was seen aggressively berating and pointing fingers at the young naval officer who remained calm throughout the encounter. The incident sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians, with many questioning the minister's approach to addressing the situation.
Verydarkman, who leads the Ratel movement, did not hold back in his response. He described the naval officer as "a fool" and suggested that if the officer had been more assertive, he should have used self-defense measures against the minister. The activist characterized Wike as "power-drunk" and accused him of lacking self-respect in his handling of the situation.
Military Protocol and Wike's Lucky Escape
The activist further elaborated on his perspective regarding military personnel, stating that they often operate like zombies who simply follow orders without question. He specifically mocked Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara in his commentary, asking the minister if he mistakenly thought the naval officer was the governor.
VDM emphasized that the minister should have followed proper protocol by contacting the officer's superior rather than attempting to allegedly "grab more land." He went on to suggest that Wike was fortunate not to have encountered a traumatized officer who had recently returned from fighting terrorists, humorously noting that the outcome could have been dramatically different.
Warning to Minister and Public Reactions
In his video statement, Verydarkman issued a direct warning to the FCT Minister, revealing that he plans to acquire land in Abuja for his NGO. He explicitly cautioned Wike against approaching his property, mentioning that he has already identified the specific land he intends to purchase.
The viral incident inspired several skit makers to create comedy content parodying the confrontation, adding a layer of humor to the serious situation. Social media platforms buzzed with reactions from Nigerians who shared diverse opinions on the matter.
Among the notable comments, @coachwilfredasuquo expressed support for VDM, stating: "My President is so hilarious. Wike go dey alright. God bless my President. May VDM days be long."
Another user, @bigbirdkuti, raised thought-provoking questions about military obedience in civilian settings: "So going by this narrative the soldiers that opened fire in the toll gate have no blame. They were just following orders abi? Una never know wetin una dey play with."
The incident continues to generate discussion about proper conduct between government officials and military personnel, with many calling for mutual respect and adherence to established protocols in such interactions.
