A Nigerian woman has taken to Facebook to publicly denounce her estranged husband, with whom she shares four children. The woman alleges that she endured multiple pregnancies and childbirths within a short span of their marriage, all while receiving minimal support from her spouse.
Four pregnancies in five years
According to the woman's post, she gave birth to four children in under five years of marriage, with no twins among them. She claimed that she went through pregnancy, labor, childbirth, and nursing stages alone, except for the first daughter, where her mother was present to assist. She described the experience as 'hell' and stated that she repeatedly begged her ex-husband for a nanny or help, but he refused.
Body shaming and emotional abuse
The woman further alleged that her husband body-shamed her, making derogatory comments about her weight and physical appearance. She wrote: 'You need to see where he is body shaming me... you are fat, your breast do fall... you are this and that yet he keeps getting me pregnant every year.' Despite the abuse, she continued to get pregnant annually.
Attempted polygamy triggers separation
The final straw came when her husband attempted to take another wife, an act she referred to as 'numbering' her. In her post, she declared: 'You wanted to number me after I have build with you... you lie... I am happy I dump you.' She also indicated that she would return for her children, stating: 'For my kids I am coming for them.'
The woman's story has sparked discussions on social media about marital abuse, body shaming, and the challenges of polygamy in Nigeria. As of the time of this report, her estranged husband has not publicly responded to the allegations.
