LEAGA to Unite Lagos Entertainment Industry Through Sports and Awards
LEAGA Unites Lagos Entertainment Through Sports and Awards

The Lagos Entertainment Association Games and Awards (LEAGA) is set to make its debut in September, bringing a unique blend of entertainment, sports, culture, and networking to Lagos. This landmark initiative aims to foster unity, wellness, friendship, and collaboration among stakeholders in Nigeria's entertainment ecosystem through sporting and recreational activities beyond the demands of show business.

Endorsed by Lagos State Government

Endorsed by the Lagos State government through the Lagos State Sports Commission (LSSC), the annual platform is designed to bring together musicians, actors, comedians, DJs, media personalities, and other major players across the arts, culture, and creative economy. The Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, commended the organisers for creating a platform that aligns with the state's broader development agenda.

"This initiative aligns with Lagos State's vision of using sports and recreation as tools for youth engagement and social development. More so, it is an opportunity to create and promote a fresh Lagos lifestyle that blends sports and entertainment," Fatodu said.

Strategic Effort for Strengthening Relationships

The Lead Convener of LEAGA, Muyiwa Osinaike, described the project as a strategic effort to strengthen relationships and healthy interaction among entertainment practitioners, government agencies, and businesses within the creative economy. "LEAGA desires to promote friendship and bonding through recreational and sporting activities. Our greater vision is to support and promote 'Sportainment' in Lagos, Nigeria, Africa, and globally," he said.

Honoring Cultural and Sporting Icons

Osinaike added that in recognition of excellence and legacy, the maiden edition will be dedicated to distinguished cultural and sporting icons, including Professors Wole Soyinka, Lazarus Ekwueme; Pa Bruce Onabrakpeya, Taiwo Ajai-Lycett, and Segun Odegbami. This dedication underscores the commitment to celebrating those who have significantly contributed to the cultural and sporting landscape.
