A recent physical altercation between popular Nigerian social media personalities Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, and Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, has sparked nationwide condemnation after they engaged in a violent fight aboard a commercial aircraft.

The Viral Aircraft Confrontation

The incident occurred on a United Nigerian Airline flight traveling from Asaba to Lagos, with videos of the confrontation quickly spreading across social media platforms. Eyewitness footage shows VeryDarkMan leaving his seat to confront Mr Jollof, leading to an exchange of physical blows that alarmed fellow passengers and crew members.

While the exact cause of the disagreement remains undisclosed to the public, the severity of the situation prompted immediate intervention. Both individuals were subsequently removed from the flight and arrested by authorities following the disturbing incident.

Public Outcry Over the Incident

A Nigerian man identified as @Seankleann on X platform (formerly Twitter) went viral after sharing his critical observations about the fight. In his post, he highlighted two particularly concerning aspects of the situation that made the behavior especially unacceptable.

The man specifically noted that a foreign national and a woman carrying a baby were seated directly behind the area where the physical altercation occurred. He expressed deep concern about the lasting negative impression this would create about Nigerians internationally.

His statement read in part: "VeryDarkMan and Jollof fighting inside the plane is the height of lawlessness in this country. You know the most disturbing thing? A foreigner was at the back of VDM and also a woman carrying a baby. This is so wrong and unacceptable."

Social Media Reactions and Divided Opinions

The incident has generated significant discussion online, with many Nigerians expressing disappointment and embarrassment. User @De_special1 commented: "Both men are disgrace to their family and nation," while @curvykiara7 simply stated: "That's very bad."

However, not all reactions condemned the influencers equally. Some social media users questioned the emphasis on how foreigners perceived the incident. @Sentini_ argued: "Fighting on a Plane is unacceptable but who cares about Foreigners? Y'all should stop this Master-Slave mentality like they don't fight over there too."

Another user, @Kelvin_Ironside, echoed similar sentiments: "Them no dey fight for plane for Yankee?? Abeg make unah fly."

The incident has raised important conversations about public behavior, the influence of social media personalities, and how such events affect Nigeria's international image. Many are calling for appropriate consequences for both individuals involved to deter similar behavior in the future.
