At just 26 years old, Camcy Adaramati is making significant waves in Nigeria's fashion industry with her groundbreaking swimwear collection that champions women's confidence and self-expression.
From University of Lagos to Fashion Entrepreneurship
The founder of Daggabody Limited revealed that her brand emerged from a simple yet powerful desire: to help women feel beautiful, bold, and unapologetic in their own skin. Despite studying History and Strategic Studies at the University of Lagos, Camcy discovered her true passion lay in fashion design.
"I didn't want to sell other people's products. I wanted to create my own," Camcy explained during her Lagos launch event in November 2025. "I had to come up with the designs myself, and that's how the journey began three years ago."
The Evolution of She Speaks Water Collection
Interestingly, Daggabody wasn't always intended to be a swimwear line. The brand originally aimed to enter the lingerie market, but Camcy found the process too complex, particularly regarding size charts and design requirements.
"I realized many women like something between conservative and bold," she shared. "When you go to the beach, you want something that feels right, maybe a one-piece, a cover-up, or a daring bikini. That's what our collection represents."
The collection's unique name, She Speaks Water, draws inspiration from feminine fluidity and strength. Camcy described it as representing "a siren woman, like a mermaid, but real. A confident woman who knows herself."
Overcoming Production Challenges
Creating the collection presented significant hurdles for the young entrepreneur. Production proved particularly challenging as Camcy managed operations from Nigeria while coordinating with an international team.
"There was a year of back and forth with samples," she recalled. "It was frustrating and expensive. Each sample could cost $200 or $300. But I kept pushing."
Her persistence paid off with a diverse collection that now includes eight bikini styles, six strong pieces, five men's shorts, and four bodysuits. Beyond swimwear, Camcy also introduced The Leisure Set, a versatile pajama-style outfit suitable for various occasions.
Sustainable Fashion with Global Appeal
While rooted in Nigerian creativity, Daggabody maintains international production standards with manufacturing based in China. The brand utilizes premium fabrics including silk, rayon, cotton, and advanced poly blends to ensure both quality and comfort.
Notably, the brand incorporates eco-conscious practices by using reusable ziplocks and recyclable paper bags, demonstrating commitment to reducing environmental impact while maintaining luxury appeal.
