Nigerian music superstar Olamide is poised to give Lagos mainland an explosive start to 2026. The YBNL boss has been confirmed as the headline act for the highly anticipated Mainland Block Party New Year's Day concert.
Mission 26K: A New Year Spectacle
The event, themed "Mission 26K," is scheduled for January 1, 2026, in Lagos. This announcement follows a phenomenal year for the hitmaker, whose tracks like Jaiye, Science Student, and Idan Buruku continue to dominate charts globally. His recent landmark achievement was a sold-out show at London's 12,500-capacity OVO Arena Wembley.
His return to a major Lagos stage promises an unforgettable experience for thousands of fans, aiming to kick off the new year with high-energy performances of his biggest anthems.
The Mainland Block Party Phenomenon
The Mainland BlockParty was formed in 2018 by Oluwatobi (Tobi) Mohammed. It has grown into a significant cultural movement, comprising sister events like Island BlockParty, Capital BlockParty, and Garden BlockParty. The festival is typically organized by Tobi alongside Moyo Shomade, Bizzle Osikoya, and Asa Asika.
Its core mission is to celebrate youth culture and foster cross-cultural connections across African cities. While usually held monthly on the last Sunday, the New Year's Day edition is a special anniversary event. With Olamide topping the bill, the concert targeting up to 30,000 attendees is set to be one of the continent's biggest New Year celebrations.
Bet9ja Joins as Official Partner
Adding to the event's scale, frontline betting company Bet9ja has entered a partnership with the Mainland Block Party. This move is part of Bet9ja's strategy to deepen its involvement in youth-centric events during the festive Detty December season.
The collaboration will see the brand participate in a series of Mainland BlockParty events across Lagos in December. Jennifer Olatunji, Senior Marketing Manager at Bet9ja, explained the partnership reflects the company's goal to engage young audiences on their preferred platforms.
"This collaboration gives us a unique opportunity to engage directly with the youth, celebrate their individuality, and create meaningful touch points," Olatunji stated.
This fusion of top-tier music and corporate sponsorship ensures the Mainland Block Party's New Year's Day concert will be a monumental event, setting the tone for entertainment in 2026.
