Nigerian music icon, 2Face Idibia, has publicly clarified the position of his former bandmate, Faze, in the enduring and public dispute between him and Blackface. The singer made the revelation during a live performance, seeking to set the record straight for fans.
Festival Stage Revelation
Speaking to the audience at the Made in Benue Festival in Makurdi, 2Face took a moment to address the elephant in the room concerning the legendary group, Plantashun Boiz. He explicitly stated that Faze, the third member of the trio, has never been involved in the personal conflict.
"You all know that Plantashun Boiz consisted of Blackface, 2Face and Faze," he told the crowd. "But due to some unforeseen circumstances, Blackface is not with us right now. However, no matter the beef wey me and Blackface get, nothing concern Faze inside."
Faze's Consistent Neutrality
2Face emphasized that Faze has maintained a stance of neutrality throughout the years of tension. He pointed out that Faze was present with him at the Benue event to represent the group's legacy, a role he has continued to play without taking sides.
"He added that Faze was present with him at the event to represent the iconic group, stressing that Faze has never taken sides in the dispute," the report confirms. This clarification aims to dispel any assumptions that the rift is a three-way conflict.
The Roots of the Long-Standing Rift
The disagreement between 2Face and Blackface originated in the early 2000s following the breakup of Plantashun Boiz. The core of the conflict has repeatedly centered on accusations from Blackface.
He has alleged that 2Face stole intellectual property, specifically songwriting credits for some hit songs. 2Face has consistently denied these allegations. Despite several attempts at reconciliation over the past two decades, the relationship has remained strained, with peace efforts often collapsing shortly after they begin.
The public statement from 2Face serves as a latest chapter in this long-running saga, officially absolving Faze from any part in the lingering disagreement between his former bandmates.
