Streamer Carter Efe has finally opened up about a spiritual experience he underwent before his widely discussed boxing victory over singer Portable. The confession came during a live session with billionaire businessman E-Money, where Carter Efe detailed the unusual preparation that preceded the fight at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event in Lagos.
Spiritual Fortification at Olumo Rock
Carter Efe revealed that he took his boxing gloves to the historic Olumo Rock in Abeokuta for spiritual fortification. According to him, a clergyman prayed over the gloves and poured olive oil into them. He claimed that smoke visibly rose from the gloves after the oil was poured, which he interpreted as a sign of assured victory.
The streamer narrated the story confidently during the livestream, while E-Money and others present reacted with disbelief and laughter. E-Money could not contain his amusement and immediately sought confirmation from one of Carter Efe's associates.
Victory Over Portable
Carter Efe defeated Portable by unanimous decision in the celebrity boxing match held at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. All three judges scored the bout in his favor, ending Portable's unbeaten streak in celebrity boxing contests. The victory earned Carter Efe a grand prize of 50 million naira.
Following the match, Carter Efe had expressed frustration over delayed payment, but he later received the cheque from E-Money while in a swimming pool, as captured in a viral video.
Public Reactions
The confession sparked mixed reactions on social media. User @choice_teejay criticized the invocation of God's name in such matters, while @mo_ra_yo28 joked about the location of Olumo Rock. @opeyemi_yemarg predicted that Portable would release a song about being defeated by spiritual means. @wuraola_arik advised that some things are better kept secret.
Meanwhile, Portable had earlier claimed that he deliberately lost the fight as a business decision, stating that he collected 40 million naira for allowing Carter Efe to win. This contradicts Carter Efe's narrative of a hard-fought victory.
