Davido's Manager Asa Asika Sparks Outrage with 2025 Spotify Wrap, Fans Demand Sacking
Davido's Manager Trends Over Spotify Wrap, Fans Demand Sack

The manager of Afrobeats superstar Davido, Asa Asika, has found himself at the centre of a heated social media storm. The controversy erupted after Asika shared his personal Spotify Wrapped summary for 2025, revealing his most-played artists and songs of the year.

What Was in Asa Asika's Spotify Wrapped?

On December 5, 2025, Asa Asika posted a screenshot of his annual music recap from the streaming platform. The list showed that his top artists for the year were predominantly international acts, with no Nigerian artist, including his client Davido, making the cut.

His Top Artists included Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), Justin Bieber, Ryan Leslie, Gunna, Kehlani, and Drake. The song list, titled "Miss Sunshine," featured tracks like "cliché" by MGK, "Saving My Love" by Fridayy, and songs from Kehlani, Masicka, French Montana, HUGEL, David Guetta, and Daecolm.

Fan Fury and Calls for Dismissal

The revelation immediately ignited fierce reactions from fans of Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke. Many took to social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to express their disappointment and demand that the singer fire his manager.

A viral tweet set the tone, stating: "If I’m Davido today, I will sack Asa Asika, he’s not worthy to be his manager… ika ni Bobo yen… he doesn’t love working with Davido." This sentiment was echoed by numerous users who argued that a manager's personal music taste should reflect support for their client's art.

One user, emmy481501, commented: "He's allowed to have his own music taste but common how can the one u manage not be in ur top 5? It clearly show's you're not a fan of his music and it also means you're not supposed to be his manager." Another, raie__x, added: "Not being biased here, but the brand or artist you’re managing should be on your top 5 list."

The Defence and Divided Opinions

However, not everyone agreed with the calls for Asika's job. A significant number of social media users came to his defence, arguing for the separation of professional duty and personal preference.

User chiganmadu1 offered a strategic perspective: "Una no wise .. Rule 7 .. never get high on your own supply .. you have listen to others to get more ideas for your brand .. even Elon dey spy ChatGPT before he lunch Grok!!" Others, like d_real_kemzy, questioned the logic: "So because he’s Davido manager his not suppose to have his own music taste Unna Dey jobless o."

The debate highlighted a classic clash between professional expectations and individual freedom. Some saw it as a simple matter of "taste and preferences," as noted by user chocolategirl_tc, while others interpreted the absence of Davido's music as a lack of passion for the job.

The incident also briefly touched on the ever-present rivalry in the Afrobeats scene, with user fine_gurl_micky joking: "Normally everybody na wizkid FC just that na giveaway separate all of us."

As of now, neither Davido nor Asa Asika has publicly addressed the uproar surrounding the Spotify Wrapped revelation. The online discourse continues to rage, posing questions about the boundaries between a manager's work and personal life in the high-stakes world of music entertainment.
