Dele Odule Recalls Losing His Son, Shares Emotional Story

Veteran Nollywood actor Dele Odule has shared an emotional account of losing his son many years ago, detailing the painful journey he and his family endured. In a recent interview, the actor recounted how some people took advantage of his grief while he sought healing for his child.

Seeking Healing from Various Sources

According to Odule, when people learned that his son was ill, they began suggesting places where he could take the child for treatment. He revealed that they visited the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, a babalawo (traditional healer), and even an alfa's house in search of a cure. Some individuals directed him to a man in a town near Ijebu, where he took his son. The man instructed them to prepare akara (bean cakes) for over 200 people and share it, which Odule did. He added that the man told them that if the first two akara stuck together, it meant his son would live. Odule felt relieved when the akara stuck together, but sadly, his son later succumbed to the prolonged illness.

Son Died in 2004

The actor revealed that his son died on August 14, 2004, despite all the money and efforts made to keep him alive. He expressed the emotional toll the loss took on him and his family.
