Wunmi, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has opened up about the ongoing legal battle over her husband's royalties. In an interview with Channel News, she disclosed that the case regarding the royalties is also in court, with a hearing scheduled for May 16, 2026.
Background of the Royalty Dispute
According to Wunmi, Mohbad had issues with his former record label before his death, and they were already in court. His lawyer had listed his brother and his son, Liam, as representatives. Since Liam is a minor, Wunmi stepped in to represent him. However, Joseph Aloba, the singer's father, reportedly wrote to the probate court requesting that his other son and Liam be removed, replacing them with his own name, his sister's name, and another family member.
Fans React to the Interview
Fans were divided over Wunmi's statements. Some supported her, urging her to proceed with the DNA test to prove her son's paternity. Others criticized both parties, calling for peace. Comments ranged from encouragement to skepticism, with one user questioning why the lawyer chose a brother and a minor over the wife.
This interview comes amid a separate court case over the paternity of Liam, which has seen allegations of irregularities in the medical facilities where the DNA test is to be conducted.
