The Black Book: Old Scores Sequel Officially in Development
Following the massive success of the 2023 revenge thriller The Black Book, director Editi Effiong has confirmed that the sequel, The Black Book: Old Scores, is now in active development. The original film, which trended globally and reached No. 3 on Netflix's rankings, has set high expectations for this follow-up project.
Expanded Ambitions and International Collaboration
Effiong announced the sequel via social media, describing the past two years as a period of intense work. He co-wrote the script with Bunmi Ajakaiye, calling it his favorite to date. Notably, the production has attracted significant international talent, including Nicky Weinstock, a producer behind the Emmy-winning series Severance. This collaboration underscores the project's global ambitions.
Funding for Old Scores has been secured with support from Adino Capital, Mango Tree, and Blooming Caravan, indicating a substantial investment in the film's scale. Effiong has labeled it as the biggest Nigerian production ever, involving a 300-member crew from Nigeria and abroad.

Richard Mofe-Damijo reprises his role as Paul Edima, the grieving father turned vigilante from the first film.
