Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, has made shocking allegations of deliberate sabotage against her latest cinematic release, Oversabi Aunty. The award-winning star broke down during an emotional Instagram Live session on Friday, December 26, 2025, claiming a calculated effort to undermine her film's financial success.
Allegations of Ticket Fraud and Poor Scheduling
Speaking directly to her followers, a visibly distressed Abraham stated she is not making money from the project despite significant investment. She accused some cinema staff of deceptive practices, including telling potential viewers her movie is sold out when it is not.
"I am not making money. They sell another ticket to people and take them to my movie hall," she alleged, adding that she has gathered evidence to support these claims. She further expressed frustration over what she described as deliberately unfavorable screening times assigned to Oversabi Aunty.
"Some cinemas will give you 10 am and 9 pm. A 10 am showtime, how do you expect it to sell?" she questioned, referring to such slots as "dead" times that naturally hurt ticket sales.
A Climate of Fear and Intimidation
Toyin Abraham hinted at a deeper conspiracy within the cinema exhibition chain, suggesting that many individuals who have witnessed these irregularities are too afraid to speak out publicly. She claimed the situation involves intimidation.
"I have a lot of evidence. Some people cannot come out because they are afraid of bullies," the actress revealed. She reminded her audience of the immense effort poured into the high-budget project, which she both produced and directed, alongside creating extensive promotional content.
The actress, who has enjoyed major box office success in recent years, described the alleged sabotage as particularly discouraging after months of planning, shooting, and marketing.
Public Reaction and Corroborating Claims
Following her live session, social media reactions were mixed, with some fans expressing sympathy and others sharing similar experiences. One user, @sirminzy, commented, "This is actually not nice. Why are people still trying to frustrate this woman despite all that she's been through?"
Another user, @Oluwadamil24717, claimed to be a victim of a similar tactic, alleging that a cinema attendant sold them a ticket for a different movie after they had requested and paid for Toyin Abraham's previous film, Warlord.
The controversy emerges shortly after Abraham ended a seven-year public feud with fellow actress Wumi Toriola. Their reconciliation occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025, during promotional activities for their respective films at a cinema in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Toyin Abraham's allegations have sparked a significant conversation about transparency and fair practices within the Nigerian film distribution and cinema industry.
