The Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) house seen on screen during the upcoming Season 11 premiere is the result of months of meticulous planning, engineering, and construction by a largely Nigerian workforce. According to MultiChoice, preparations for the 2026 edition began in November 2025, nearly nine months before the first housemate enters. The theme for this season is 'Everything Is For The Taking', and the launch show airs on July 26.
Construction Timeline and Scale
The physical transformation from an empty structure into a fully functional television set takes approximately two months. The house, built adjacent to a live television studio in Lagos, is designed to accommodate more than 20 housemates. It features 52 robotic pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, 7 handheld cameras, 59 microphones, 36 antenna blades, and 19 speakers. This equipment allows production teams to capture round-the-clock activity and ensure continuous live broadcasting throughout the season.
Annual Redesign and Production Needs
MultiChoice stated that the BBNaija house is redesigned every year to enhance both viewer experience and production efficiency. A major change occurred in 2024 when the staircase was moved to the centre of the living room and the bedrooms were relocated upstairs. This altered housemates' movement patterns and improved camera coverage. Every redesign is guided by production requirements, including sightlines, camera angles, and natural interaction among housemates.
Local Employment and Expertise
The annual construction of the BBNaija house supports more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs across Nigeria. All stages of the project—civil engineering, electrical installations, interior decoration, and finishing—are executed by Nigerian professionals, including carpenters, electricians, decorators, and civil engineers. Once construction is complete, production crews, camera operators, 'ninjas', master control room teams, housekeeping staff, caterers, and technical support personnel take over to manage the show throughout its run.

While Big Brother Naija is known for drama and entertainment, the organisers emphasize that the house represents a large-scale production ecosystem powered by local expertise.
