Content Creator Deka George Mourns Sister Lost in Childbirth, Alleges Medical Negligence
Content creator Deka George has shared an emotional and painful account of losing her sister, Amaka, during childbirth, describing it as one of the most difficult moments of her life. The tragic loss occurred just two weeks ago, and Deka is still struggling to come to terms with the devastating reality.
A Family Shattered by Loss
Deka revealed that they were originally four siblings, but are now reduced to three, a change that has been incredibly hard to accept. Her late sister, Amaka, was only 36 years old at the time of her passing, leaving behind a newborn child. Deka expressed a deep sense of responsibility to be present in the child's life moving forward, vowing to honor her sister's memory.
Allegations of Medical Delays and Negligence
Recounting the harrowing events, Deka explained that her sister was initially taken to the hospital where she had registered for antenatal care. However, due to high blood pressure, she was referred to another facility. At the second hospital, complications arose during labor, but there was a significant delay before a surgical procedure was performed.
After the baby was successfully delivered, Amaka began to experience difficulty breathing. Deka alleged that attempts to get urgent medical attention were not handled with the necessary urgency. By the time further action was taken, it was too late, and her sister had passed away.
Frustration Over Hospital Response
The content creator expressed profound frustration over the absence of a qualified doctor at the critical moment and the unsatisfactory response she received when seeking explanations from hospital staff. She believes that if proper and timely medical intervention had been provided, her sister might still be alive today.
Personal Regret and Legal Battles
Adding to her grief, Deka was not in the same city when the tragedy unfolded. She was preoccupied with legal battles after calling out a hair vendor over an unsatisfactory business transaction. This absence has left her with a heavy heart, as she believes she might have been able to intervene and advocate for her sister if she had been present.
Deka's story highlights the ongoing challenges and tragedies surrounding maternal healthcare in Nigeria, underscoring the urgent need for improved medical responses and accountability in such critical situations.
