A Nigerian woman, Sumayya Hamman Adama, has publicly shared a deeply personal tragedy, revealing that her husband ended their marriage because she gave birth to their two children via Caesarian section.
A Heartbreaking Revelation on Social Media
The story came to light on Sunday, November 16, 2025, when Sumayya, who is from Adamawa State, responded to a Facebook post by another user, Buithat Hudu. Hudu had criticized men who look down on their wives for having C-sections, questioning their womanhood.
In her emotional comment, Sumayya confirmed she had lived through this exact prejudice. She explained that her husband divorced her after the births of both their children, which were through CS, because he could not accept it.
Loss and Resilience After the Divorce
The situation took an even more tragic turn following the separation. Sumayya revealed that their first child passed away after the divorce.
Despite the immense pain of losing her marriage and her first child, she expressed resilience and faith. She is now caring for her second child alone. "But Alhamdulillah for everything," she wrote, adding, "May Almighty Allah rewards and bless anyone that is going through hard times."
Online Outcry Against Stigma
The original post by Buithat Hudu that prompted Sumayya's response strongly condemned the stigma some men attach to C-section deliveries. Hudu expressed disgust that a Caesarian section scar could be wrongly linked to a woman's character.
Her powerful message called out the hypocrisy of men who cherish their mothers for giving birth to them but fail to extend the same respect to their wives who undergo the same challenging process to bring their children into the world.
