Zamfara First Lady Huriyya Lawal Delivers Aid to Quadruplets' Family, Vows Sustained Support
Zamfara First Lady Pledges Support for Vulnerable Families

Hajiya Huriyya Lawal, the First Lady of Zamfara State, has made a firm promise to continue her advocacy and material support for the state's most vulnerable households, with a special focus on nursing mothers. This commitment was powerfully demonstrated during a recent visit to the family of newborn quadruplets in Bungudu Local Government Area.

Essential Support for a Growing Family

The governor's wife visited the home of the quadruplets' parents following an initial meeting at the Federal Medical Centre in Gusau shortly after the babies' safe delivery. During the visit on Monday, December 1, 2025, Hajiya Lawal presented a substantial package of relief materials to the family.

The aid included vital supplies for both the infants and the parents:

  • Bags of rice, grains, sugar, and other food staples.
  • Cartons of milk and baby bath sets.
  • Newborn clothing, mothers' clothing, and other crucial household items.

The father, Malam Lawali Sanusi, expressed his profound gratitude, describing the First Lady's intervention as deeply comforting and timely. "We are truly grateful for this kindness. This gesture has brought great relief to our household, and we pray that Allah rewards her abundantly," he was quoted as saying in a statement issued by Hajiya Rabi Yusuf, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication.

A Dual Focus: Welfare and Women's Safety

This ongoing engagement underscores the First Lady's dedicated mission to improve maternal health outcomes and strengthen child welfare across Zamfara. Her office's resolve is firmly fixed on providing targeted assistance to families in need.

This visit aligns with her broader advocacy work, which also prioritizes the safety and rights of women. Just days before, Hajiya Lawal flagged off the 2025 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a global campaign advocating for an end to violence against women.

The commemoration was organized by her office in collaboration with the State Ministry for Women, Children and Social Development Affairs. In her address, she described GBV as a profound threat to social well-being and development, calling for a unified movement demanding action and accountability.

Key Priorities in the Fight Against GBV

The First Lady outlined a clear action plan for the year, with priorities centered on:

Strengthening legal enforcement to protect survivors and supporting victims' access to justice, whether the abuse occurs online or offline.

She called for enhanced collaboration with security agencies to protect communities and expand safe spaces. The plan also includes providing psychosocial support and counselling, promoting digital safety, encouraging the reporting of cybercrimes, and working to end the stigma, silence, and harmful cultural practices that enable violence.

Through these combined efforts in direct family support and systemic advocacy, the Zamfara First Lady is positioning her office as a central pillar in the state's social welfare and protection framework.
