CVR Exercise Details and Requirements
The Continuous Voter Registration exercise, which commenced on August 18, 2025, is scheduled to continue until August 2026, providing ample opportunity for eligible Nigerians to participate in the electoral process.
Professor Ayobami Salami, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State, had earlier outlined the registration schedule, noting that online registration began on August 18, 2025, while physical biometric capture started on August 25, 2025, and will run until August 30, 2026.
The commission has issued stern warnings against multiple and underage registrations, emphasizing that offenders will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
Prospective registrants are required to present their National Identification Numbers (NIN) or any other recognized national means of identification to verify their identities during the registration process.
The CVR exercise is designed for:
- Nigerian citizens who have attained 18 years of age
- Individuals seeking replacement of damaged or lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs)
- Those wishing to transfer their voting rights to other polling units or states
Registration centers are operational at INEC state secretariats and local government area offices nationwide, with Professor Salami encouraging all eligible residents to take advantage of this opportunity to register and actively participate in shaping Nigeria's democratic future.
