APC Unanimously Endorses Senator Yayi Adeola for Ogun 2027 Governorship Race

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has officially announced Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly referred to as Yayi, as its consensus governorship candidate for the highly anticipated 2027 election in the state. This significant declaration was made by Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, during a crucial stakeholders and strategic caucus meeting of the party held last night.

Governor Abiodun expressed unwavering confidence in Senator Adeola's capabilities to succeed him, highlighting the senator's strong intellectual capacity and proven leadership skills. Adeola, who has represented Ogun West in the 10th Senate, received unanimous endorsement from all party leaders present at the gathering, solidifying his position as the chosen candidate.

The meeting, which was convened by the state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, saw the attendance of prominent political figures including Governor Abiodun, former governor Segun Osoba, Senators Gbenga Daniel, Ibikunle Amosun, Kola Bajomo, Salisu Shuaib, Gbenga Kaka, and Gbenga Obadara, along with other caucus members. Prior to the endorsement, Governor Abiodun addressed the meeting, revealing that he had engaged in discussions with other aspirants from Ogun West, specifically Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Abiodun Akinlade, persuading them to step down in favor of Adeola. This strategic move was aimed at fostering party cohesion and ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.

Adeola's Commitment to Ogun State and the APC

In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Senator Adeola made a solemn vow not to let down the people of Ogun State and the APC. He pledged to sustain the state's trajectory as the fastest-growing economy and an industrial haven among Nigerian states. Adeola emphasized his belief in unity and oneness, particularly within Ogun West and the broader state, recognizing Ogun's pivotal role in the federal republic of Nigeria.

He stated, "Now is all the sacrifices that my brothers have put together to ensure this day come to pass. I believe in oneness and the unity of our dear state and Ogun West by extension. I know the vision for this state; I know how passionate and how central this state is to the federal republic of Nigeria as far as maintaining our status as the most industrialized state in Nigeria, aside from being the fastest-growing economy in Nigeria."

Adeola further assured the leaders, "Your excellency, my dear leaders that are here, I want to assure you, I will not let you down. I promise to keep the flag flying. I promise to retain and maintain the unity, peace, and progress that has taken place in Ogun state for the last three years and beyond. I can assure you I will not derail. I will not let the ship I'm about to take over derail, and by the special grace of God, I will do my best, my utmost best, to keep every member of our great party together, to keep all the state together."

He concluded by affirming his dedication to fostering political alignment and unity, declaring that a new Ogun State is born and vowing to lead the state to its promised land and next level of development.
