Kwara APC Unites for Northern District's Governorship Bid

In a significant political development, stakeholders and governorship aspirants from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State's Northern Senatorial District have reached a crucial agreement to work collectively toward ensuring their zone produces the state's next governor in the 2027 elections.

Historic Meeting and Communiqué

The important consensus was achieved during a meeting held on Tuesday, November 27, 2025, at the Ilorin residence of prominent Kwara North leader, Senator Mohammed Ahmed. The gathering, which marked the third forum of its kind, saw strong participation from APC stakeholders across all five local government areas that constitute the senatorial district.

According to a communiqué issued after the meeting and signed by Sen Mohammed Ahmed, all gubernatorial aspirants from the district pledged to work together toward achieving what they described as "the district's goal of producing the next governor of the state." The document specifically acknowledged the efforts of traditional rulers, the Kwara North Youths Forum, and the Kwara North Elders Council in advocating for the governorship seat to be conceded to the zone in 2027.

Strategic Coordination and Unity

The stakeholders took concrete steps to ensure their objective is realized by agreeing to establish an inclusive committee that will consolidate the activities of various groups working toward the same goal. This committee is expected to streamline efforts and facilitate easier achievement of their primary objective.

In a move emphasizing unity, the meeting advised all aspirants from Kwara North to conduct their pre-campaign activities "with a sense of unity of purpose and should be devoid of rancour and character assassination." The stakeholders also charged the forum's convener to reach out to other groups sharing the same mission for effective coordination and positive realization of their common objective.

The communiqué concluded by acknowledging and appreciating efforts by both the Kwara State and Federal Governments in addressing recent security challenges, including armed bandit attacks and kidnappings that occurred in parts of Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts.
