In a significant political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, religious leaders from the Oyun local government area in Kwara State organized special interfaith prayer sessions on Monday. The prayers were specifically aimed at safeguarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against untimely death and supporting the emergence of Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, popularly known as BOB, as the state's next governor.

The prayer event, orchestrated by the Oyun APC Solidarity Support group, was jointly led by Bishop Ola Ojo of the African Church in Erin Ile and Alhaji Suleiman Tajudeen Olowe, the Chief Imam of Oke Mapo mosque in Erin Ile. During the session, the clerics emphasized the importance of entrusting all pre-election events to divine intervention, offering supplications for a peaceful and secure electoral process before, during, and after the polls.
This gathering also provided a platform to advocate for consensus and unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 elections approach. The religious leaders highlighted the need for stability and progress in Kwara State, aligning their spiritual efforts with political aspirations.

Simultaneously, stakeholders from the Ilorin South local government area convened to discuss party strategy. The Ilorin South Progressives Caucus, chaired by Hon. Oladimeji Mustapha, issued a strong directive urging APC members statewide to embrace consensus arrangements in selecting the governorship candidate for 2027. This call was grounded in principles of equity, fairness, and the desire to sustain ongoing developmental initiatives.
At this meeting, the caucus formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for reelection and declared their support for Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as the preferred governorship candidate. Public affairs analyst Issa Alfulani moved a motion endorsing BOB, describing him as a unifying figure and a dedicated builder of communities, which was met with widespread approval from attendees.

Following the Oyun prayer session, a communiqué was issued and signed by Alhaji Azeez Isiaka Afolabi on behalf of all eleven wards in the local government. The document formally adopted Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa as the APC governorship aspirant and endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
The communiqué also included an appeal to other governorship aspirants within the party to rally behind BOB, ensuring a unified front to secure victory for the APC in Kwara State. Additionally, it called on the incumbent Governor AbdulRazaq AbdulRahman to support BOB as his successor, emphasizing the importance of continuing the current administration's positive work and maintaining political stability.
