The endorsement motion was officially moved by the Chairman of the Ogun State Councillors' Forum, Honourable Faseyi Akindele, and promptly seconded by Honourable Babalola Emmanuel during a well-attended forum gathering. The councillors articulated that their decision stems directly from what they described as Governor Abiodun's "unmatched developmental strides" and "qualitative leadership" demonstrated across Ogun State since assuming office. They emphasized that the governor has successfully transformed the state in several critical sectors, including infrastructure development, healthcare delivery, economic revitalization, and enhanced security measures.
Furthermore, the forum highlighted that Governor Abiodun's extensive wealth of experience in governance and public administration makes him an exceptionally suitable and qualified candidate to effectively represent Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly. This endorsement comes despite the fact that Governor Abiodun has not yet officially declared his intention to contest for the Ogun East senatorial seat, which is currently held by Senator Gbenga Daniel.

He noted that this project is poised to significantly boost economic activities and commercial traffic in Iperu, Ilishan, and the wider Ogun State region. "With the strategic development of this airport, Ogun State can now attract increased domestic and international traffic, which will undoubtedly enhance economic growth, create jobs, and stimulate investment not just in the immediate host communities but across the entire state," he added with conviction.
