Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced a plan to deploy a dual transmission system at every polling unit across Nigeria for the 2027 general elections. The revelation came during an exclusive interview with Arise News on Thursday, September 10, 2026, and has since triggered widespread debate on social media.
Dual Transmission Strategy Explained
In the interview, Obi stated that his party intends to install transmission systems at each polling unit to relay results directly to the NDC situation room. He emphasized the move as a corrective measure against electoral integrity concerns. "We are going to have dual transmission. This time around, we will make sure every polling unit has a system that transmits to our own situation room the correct results," Obi said.
The NDC flagbearer, however, did not provide details on funding or the rollout timeline for the ambitious project. Obi was ratified as the NDC's presidential candidate on May 29, 2026, after leaving the Labour Party earlier that year.
