The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has launched a palliative initiative to cushion the impact of the recent fuel price increase on its employees. The institution's management stated that the decision was necessary following the fuel price hike, which has exacerbated economic difficulties across the nation.

Management's Response to Economic Strain

According to Isaac Oluyi, the Public Relations Officer of UNIMED, the management approved the disbursement of palliative support in alignment with the vice-chancellor's dedication to prioritizing staff welfare. Oluyi noted that the university had already implemented the new minimum wage in October 2025, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to employee well-being.

Vice Chancellor's Remarks

Prof. Ebunoluwa Adejuyigbe, the Vice Chancellor of UNIMED, addressed a group of staff members, describing the intervention as timely and essential. She acknowledged the severe economic challenges faced by the workforce and assured them that the administration understands their struggles. Adejuyigbe emphasized that staff welfare remains a top priority and pledged to foster a supportive work environment that enables employees to thrive.
