SDP Candidate Adebayo Urges Nigerians to Seek Political Awakening
Adebayo Calls for Political Awakening Among Nigerians

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has accused the current administration of deliberate governance failures that have plunged Nigerians into severe economic hardship, weakening their ability to hold leaders accountable. Speaking during a national interview, Adebayo argued that rising poverty, unemployment, and declining living standards have forced citizens to prioritize survival over civic engagement and democratic participation.

Criticism of Tinubu's Policies

Adebayo criticized President Bola Tinubu's government for failing to implement effective policies in education, economic empowerment, and social welfare. He claimed that proper management of government resources could drastically reduce poverty and improve quality of life. The SDP flagbearer warned that an undereducated population is more susceptible to political manipulation and less capable of contributing to national development.

Call for Civic Education

The SDP leader urged Nigerians to understand their constitutional rights and the obligations of government. He emphasized that sustainable change requires greater political awareness and active citizen participation. Adebayo stated, "The poverty that Nigerians are facing is artificial, government-inflicted and self-tolerated by the people." He added that opposition parties must focus on empowering citizens to demand responsible leadership, not just electoral competition.

Adebayo expressed concern over the state of education, noting that many children are out of school or receive inadequate schooling. He warned that politicians seek voters, but citizens must first understand their rights to demand good governance. "Once they understand their rights, they will stop settling for crumbs and start demanding good governance," he said.
