Bauchi PDP Aspirant Dismisses Bala Mohammed's 2027 Influence
Bauchi PDP Aspirant Rejects Bala Mohammed's 2027 Sway

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Usman Adamu, has dismissed concerns over the influence of Governor Bala Mohammed ahead of the 2027 governorship election, insisting that the people of the state would resist any attempt to impose a candidate on them.

Adamu, who spoke with journalists shortly after submitting his nomination form at the PDP national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, expressed confidence that the PDP would retain its dominance in the state despite recent political developments and internal wranglings within the opposition party. The aspirant maintained that political power ultimately rests with God, stressing that no individual, regardless of influence or position, could determine the outcome of the election.

“Power and authority belong to God and only Him can decide the future with certainty. So I have no reliance on whoever you think. As far as I have that belief in God, I know God can do it,” he said.

Reacting to speculations that Governor Bala Mohammed, who recently aligned with another political platform, may support a preferred successor, Adamu argued that Bauchi voters had a history of rejecting imposition. “Bauchi people are very wise. Even a former governor defeated an incumbent governor. So talk less of defeating a person that was imposed by the governor. I don’t think that will be a problem in Bauchi,” he said.

The aspirant further declared that the PDP remained the strongest political force in the state, despite reports of divisions and leadership tussles within the party at the national level. “As far as I am concerned, there is one party in Bauchi, which is PDP. PDP has its stronghold in Bauchi and most of the people in Bauchi are PDP supporters. You cannot change them from that position,” he added.

Adamu also dismissed claims that the PDP was factionalised, insisting that the leadership recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) remained the authentic structure of the party. According to him, “What I always say as a layman, I am not a lawyer by profession, but if you are contesting under a platform, what you need to do is go to the INEC website and see who the official leader of the party is. I believe everybody has checked. The party is being led by Hon. Abdurahman Mohamed Takushara. So what else do I need?”

He, however, mocked rival factions within the PDP planning to conduct parallel activities, including the sale of nomination forms, describing them as political impostors. “Those splinter groups said they want to start selling forms. You can sell your form. Even scammers are selling forms everywhere,” he stated.

Adamu expressed optimism that the PDP would emerge stronger after its primaries, assuring party supporters that internal disagreements would not weaken its chances in Bauchi State. “After the primaries, we will be more united and we will pose a very great threat to Bauchi State government,” he said.
