Obidient Movement Rejects Faction, Reaffirms Support for Peter Obi
Obidient Movement Rejects Faction, Backs Peter Obi

The Obidient Movement has firmly dismissed the activities and announcements made by certain individuals and groups attempting to operate under names and structures deliberately designed to create confusion regarding its identity and leadership. On Thursday, a group calling itself the Obedient Movement announced the removal of former presidential candidate Peter Obi and others as its leaders.

Official Response

In a statement released by the National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the Obidient Movement declared that it recognizes no parallel structure, faction, or alternative leadership outside its established and recognized leadership framework, which is aligned with Peter Obi. The movement urged the public, media organizations, supporters across Nigeria, and diaspora stakeholders to understand that any group operating under derivative or deceptively similar identities does not represent the Obidient Movement, its values, or its leadership.

Commitment to Core Values

The Obidient Movement emphasized that it remains a people-driven movement founded on accountability, justice, and the collective aspiration for a New Nigeria. It stated that attempts to create confusion, misrepresent the movement's identity, or exploit its growing influence for ulterior interests will not distract it from its mission and ongoing engagement with Nigerians at all levels.

“We urge all Obidients and members of the public to remain focused, united, and guided only by communications issued through the officially recognized leadership and communication channels of the movement. The vision of a New Nigeria remains alive, clear, and unwavering,” the statement added.
