Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a renowned prophetess has declared that former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is not destined to become Nigeria's president. Bright Ndibunwa, popularly known as Bright the Seer, made this assertion in a social media video on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. The founder of The Lord of Hosts Miracle Chapel in Lagos stated that despite Kwankwaso positioning himself ahead of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, he will not carry the presidential banner in the upcoming polls.
Prophetic Message on Kwankwaso
In her video titled 'Prophecy on Kwankwaso,' Bright the Seer claimed divine revelation, saying, 'The spirit of God is talking about Alhaji Kwankwaso, that even though he is standing in front of Atiku Abubakar, I am not seeing him carrying that presidential banner now. The Nigerian presidential banner is still being held by who is holding it, as I am talking.' The full video was shared on her Facebook page.
Kwankwaso Officially Joins NDC
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Kwankwaso formally joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) at the residence of former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson in Abuja. The former leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) had earlier hinted at consultations with the NDC and left the African Democratic Congress (ADC). NDC National Chairman Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe presented the membership card to Kwankwaso. Speaking after the event, the 69-year-old politician urged Nigerians to register with the NDC before the deadline, emphasizing shared ideologies between him and the party.
Obi Calls for Unity in NDC
Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and leader of the Obidient Movement, also joined the NDC alongside Kwankwaso. At the event, Obi urged party members to avoid litigation and internal disputes ahead of the 2027 elections. He warned that court battles could weaken efforts to build a credible political alternative. 'Please let there be no litigation. Party members, please don't go to court. We want to build a party; we are not lawyers. We are pleading with the judiciary. Please end cases in the party so we can face the job of building a new Nigeria that is possible,' Obi said. He stressed the goal of creating a country where any child can succeed without connections.
Earlier Political Movements
In April 2026, supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso launched the Obi–Kwankwaso Movement, a political pressure group with a strong structure across Nigeria. Meanwhile, Dele Momodu, a prominent ADC member, claimed that President Bola Tinubu forced Obi and Kwankwaso into an alliance, arguing that their unity is driven by pressure from the ruling All Progressives Congress rather than genuine commitment.
