APC Appoints Arabinrin Aderonke to 2027 Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Arabinrin Aderonke as a member of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, assigning her the role of Coordinating Secretary for Media/Strategic Communications III. The announcement was made on Saturday, August 22, 2026, when presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga released the full council membership list.

Appointment Details and Council Composition

The released document includes prominent party figures and professionals placed across different units of the campaign structure. Aderonke joins the council with a background spanning journalism, strategic communications, policy, and public affairs. She won the Wole Soyinka Investigative Reporting Award in 2013 and reached the finals of the CNN African Journalist Award in 2016.

Beyond journalism, Aderonke has worked as an author and policy adviser. She holds affiliations with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, where she holds Fellowship status. Her inclusion widens the APC's media and communications arm as the party formally begins organising for the 2027 general elections.

Aderonke's Response to Her Appointment

Responding to her nomination, Aderonke said she received the news with gratitude and a clear sense of duty. She described the appointment as more than a privilege, framing it as a direct call to contribute meaningfully to the party's 2027 presidential effort.

"This is a call to service, and I embrace it with humility, responsibility and a clear understanding of the task ahead," she said. She also urged members of the party to rally together ahead of the election cycle, closing her remarks with a message of collective purpose: "Forward together. Renewed hope, renewed commitment."

APC Builds Broad Campaign Team

The campaign council draws from various sectors, including media, politics, security, and strategic communications, reflecting the party's intention to run a broad campaign operation ahead of the presidential contest. The appointment of Aderonke is part of a wider effort to strengthen the party's media and strategic communications capacity for the 2027 election.

In a separate development, APC woman leader Alhaja Ero Arike reacted to the defeat of the party's candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the Osun governorship election. Arike, known for her criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke, said the outcome should be viewed as part of the uncertainties that come with politics, describing the game as one in which victory and defeat are inevitable.
